September 13. Conversations with
God | Sometime in October. Tuesdays with
Morrie
If you would like to lead a discussion of a book,
send me the book title, time, place and date where you would hold
the discussion, and I'll put the information on the B'nai Chai
site. Suggesting a book won't be enough though -- you have to
be willing to lead the discussion or to get someone else who will.
I'll help out by putting the info on the website as well as reminding
folks of it by e-mail. Many organizations sponsor book discussion,
but I suggest that to make our book discussions special, we restrict
the topics to those dealing with religious or philosophical issues,
and that we consider these issues from the perspective of our
Jewish faith and values. RG

Conversations
with God (book 1), by Neale Donald Walsch
Published in 1996 by G. P. Putnam's Sons. ISBN 0-399-14278-9
Some books are meant to entertain.
Others to inform. But the rare book -- and this is one of them
-- can inspire and even change lives. Reading Conversations
with God, (book 1) by Neale Donald Walsch, propelled me to
make some big changes in my life -- including starting up this
Chai website. Suddenly, I became much more willing to take chances
on trying new ideas -- to risk failure and criticism, to go with
my heart more than my head, and plunge forward into doing something
because my feelings and my intuition just tell me I am going in
the right direction. Maybe this book will have the similar effect
on you -- or maybe you will be indifferent to it, and wonder why
it was a best seller for so long. Whatever your view, this book
will trigger lots of controversy and good discussion.
Join my wife and me in a discussion
of Conversation with God in our home at 7:30 PM on Wednesday,
September 20. Send me an e-mail
confirming you are coming. We only have room for fifteen people
-- so we have to close up the discussion group after we get the
fifteenth name.
In response to your e-mail, I will
reply with the directions to my house. Richard
