Around June 7, 200. Richard Gordon creates a Chai website including
two constitutions, the Chai constitution and one Richard wrote,
adapting it from the Chai version, which he suggested take the
place of the Chai constitution and be the basis of a new club
called B'nai Chai.
July 9, 2000. The first event promoted by Richard's website
and e-mail messages attracted 24 Chai members and friends to
see The Perfect Storm and to have dinner together at
Perkins. This was the first Chai event where a website and e-mail
messages played a key role in promoting a successful Chai activity.
July 10, 2000 Chai's reorganization meeting was held in the
Temple's APR room. The Rabbi attended and his assistance ensured
that the meeting was productive. By general consensus, a new
group was formed called B'nai Chai. Thirty attendees signed
up as members of this new Temple club. A committee was formed
to draw up a new constitution which will be brought before the
membership for review within three months. The committee members
are Jerry J., Larry G., Joe K., Ira B., Phyllis R. and Diane
S. While the committee works and until officers are elected,
during a three month transitional period, Richard Gordon agreed
to act as coordinator, and through this website, keep activities
going and facilitate the exchange of ideas among members interested
in giving their views on what they want B'nai Chai to become.
July 11, 2000. Revising the Chai website, Richard
posted a website under the name of B'nai Chai.
