My
wife's poetry
Due to a lack of interest, this site will no longer be updated.
Biggest problem is that we could not get anyone to step forward
to take on the responsibilities of being president of the group.
Even though this site will not be updated, I will keep it on
the Internet just in case somewhere down the line people volunteer
for officer positions. RGordon. 9/17/00
- Events coming up.
- See our membership list.
- Second movie night great success.
- July 10th meeting results.
- Disappointed we don't have more events? Or disappointed
in the ones we have had on the agenda? Don't just complain
-- here's how to do something about
it.
- News from the Bylaws Committee? I'm awaiting status report
and will post it here as soon as I get the information.
- Have you noticed? I pulled the photo of the diving dolphins
at the top left hand corner of every page on our site. They
got tired after jumping non-stop for six weeks. So I'm giving
them a rest. Substituting a sailboat I photographed on a recent
trip to Cape Cod. Not only are the dolphins missing though
-- no more advertisements on this site either. Remember they
used to be popping up just across from the dolphins on the
right hand corner of the page. That's when I was using a free
web hosting service called Geocities.
Now with my own domain name (www.gordonrichard.com),
I don't have the free service anymore -- but I'm not stuck
with the ads either. By the way, if you miss the dolphins,
just move your mouse over the sailboat.
- Anyone interested in a webpage creation class? If you have
lots of experience with computers and would like to learn
the basics of webpage creation, maybe you would like to take
one of the four courses I will be teaching at a local junior
college. Interested?

July 10 Meeting Results in
New Club and By-Laws Committee
First, a special thanks to Fern G.
and Rita M. for setting up the pizza party. A special thanks,
too, to the Rabbi for setting the positive tone of the meeting.
With out the Rabbi's help, our meeting would never have ended
with so much accomplished. And to Rita M., another thanks for
helping me lead the meeting. I'm especially grateful to the five
volunteers who stepped forward to work on the new constitution.
About thirty people attended Chai's
reorganization meeting on July 10. A new group was formed called
B'nai Chai. Twenty six people signed up for membership in the
new group.
For three months, B'nai Chai will
be going through a transitional period during which time I will
keep activities and communications going by updating the website
and through e-mail messages. Six volunteers took on the crucial
job of coming up with a new constitution. I also asked the committee
to recommend what should be done with the funds remaining in the
Chai treasury.
At the end of three months -- or
earlier if the committee is ready -- the committee will present
the results of their work to the members of B'nai Chai, and suggest
what to do next (vote on their constitution, elect officers --
whatever they decide).
During the three month transitional
period, whoever signs up to be a member of B'nai Chai is considered
a member. During this transitional period, there will be no dues.
It will be up to the committee to spell out membership requirements
as part of their work on the constitution.
If you were not at the meeting but
would like to sign up as a member of B'nai Chai, just send me
an e-mail message and I will add you to our membership
roll. Then you can be formally involved with us in creating
this new social group that will provide lots of fun activities
for us all and also be of service to the Temple.
The committee members are Jerry J.,
Larry G., Joe K., Ira B., Phyllis R. and Diane S. (Why
last initial?) Thank you so much gentlemen and ladies for stepping
forward to take on this important job. Thanks to you, our new
club has a promising future.
I appreciate, too, that Frank C.
has offered to be an advisor, and since Frank was involved in
writing the original Chai constitution, his advice might be very
helpful, indeed.

Throughout
this website, when referring to club members, I will only use
first the name and last initial for the sake of privacy since
this site is accessible to the general public, and many people
are very concerned about privacy issues. If anyone prefers that
I use his/her entire name, just let me know and I will be happy
to accommodate.
