Less expensive alternatives to Adobe Photo Shop

The professional version of Adobe Photoshop is a great photo editing and graphics program, but it is also very expensive -- over $500. Not nearly as good, but a lot less expensive are these programs. Unless we are graphic professionals, these programs may fit out needs for preparing graphics and photos for our Web pages:

• Adobe PhotoDeluxe Home Edition 4.0 (about $49)
• Microsoft's Picture It Photo 2001 (about $40)
• NetStudio (about $89)
• Paint Shop Pro (about $100)
• PhotoSuites IV from MGI (about $50)
