This is the third page of the Owl site using a style sheet. The championship
Owl team has decided to change its name to the canaries.. "We
think canaries are a lot friendlier than Owls, and we want to be known
as the friendly team. Frankly, he doesn't give a hoot, said the coach, but the
kids want to change the name -- so he's glad to go along with them. Besides
the Canaries is a better name because --
- The kids will be encouraged to sing on the field rather than just making annoying hooting sounds.
- Most of the kids are frightened of owls but love canaries.
- One of the boys' fathers owns a pet store and he is trying to unload an oversupply of canaries -- so the name change may help empty out his crowded cages.
Canaries hoping for new uniforms.
Even though they have changed their name to the Canaries, Owl players are still stuck wearing Owl uniforms. The coach said the parents are trying to get someone to volunteer to purchase new uniforms for the kids, but no one is volunteering because --
- They don't think the name change is worth the expense of new uniforms.
- The kids can make the name change with magic marker by just crossing out the old name and writing in the new.
- The team is already $2,000 over budget because of purchasing a thoroughbred horse as a mascot -- and rumor has it that next year, they are going to call themselves the Trigger, after Roy Rodgers famous horse.
